Meet Samantha—
Richmond's hybrid
gardener.
She started in her grandfather's organic garden. She spent years learning conventional turf and garden science. The result is a perspective almost no one else in Richmond has — and a garden philosophy that works.
HER STORY
Where the hybrid philosophy comes from.
Gardening has been part of Samantha Bailey's life for as long as she can remember. It started in her grandfather's garden — organic, seasonal, and deeply connected to how things actually grow. She learned early that a plant chosen for the right place, in the right soil, with the right care, doesn't need much help after that.
That foundation shaped everything. But it wasn't the whole picture.
When Samantha began working with conventional lawn and garden treatments in 2018, something clicked. The organic and synthetic worlds weren't opposites — they were tools. Used thoughtfully, each had its place. A blanket commitment to either camp wasn't honest, and it wasn't the best outcome for the garden.
"I'm not ideologically committed to organic or conventional. I'm committed to what actually works for your specific soil, your specific plants, and your specific goals. That's what being a hybrid gardener means."
Today, Samantha brings that philosophy to homeowners across Richmond, Henrico, and Short Pump. Every consultation is personal. Every planting plan is built around what she sees at your property — not pulled from a template or a plant catalog.
